Afterthought Software and BIME (Bath Institute of Medical Engineering) are developing a clock to help people suffering with dementia.
The clock unit, known as the Ward Orientation Clock (Combe Clock) can be attached to a display and uses custom software written by Afterthought Software to show the time of day in different formats through slowly changing screens.
Recently, health secretary, Jeremy Hunt announced that the government is to invest £50m in improvements for dementia care. Don Foster MP featured the Ward Orientation Clock (Combe Clock) on his website. Commenting on BIME's current day clock, Don Foster said "the team based at the RUH continually demonstrate how technology and innovation can benefit people in so many different ways".
